Trapani, Sicily: miles of beaches in town

All sorts of beaches in Trapani: sandy or rocky, wild or equipped, busy or secluded...

Who attends an Italian language course in Italy is definitely attracted not just by culture but also by the sea, and there are many Italian language schools by the sea. From this point of view, Sicily is a privileged destination, and Trapani is perfect for an Italian study trip by the sea.

Trapani is a "beach-town" with several beaches on its northern coast: the largest is San Giuliano, at the foot of Mount Erice, with private beach facilities and the public one just in front of the University. And there are beaches also in the historical centre! It is a unique sensation looking up to the city walls while swimming in the sea in the beaches near the Ligny tower (rocks), by the Tramontana city walls and next to the Fish market.

For more comfort, Trapani also has private beaches (known as "lidi" or "stabilimenti") with paid services (beach umbrellas, changing rooms, showers, snack bar, entertainment, etc.). Scuola Virgilio's students can benefit from reduced prices at one of the best equipped private beaches in Trapani that stays opened for almost 6 months a year.

Moreover, the sea water temperature in Trapani never goes below 16°C (60°F) even in winter; in spring and autumn it is around 20-22°C (68-72°F), while in the summer it is at 25°C (77°F) or above. Therefore it is possible to swim in Trapani not just during Scuola Virgilio's summer intensive Italian courses but also during fall (an ideal season for an over-50 Italian course) and spring (perfect for a school study trip).

Dicono di noi...

I wanted to thank you very much for having Rosanna in Trapani, she not only learnt a huge amount of italian but also had a wonderful time.  I believe she is planning on coming back as she was totally inspired by the cooking. I have a feeling you have not heard the last from her!  Many thanks
