Activities for practicing Italian with Scuola Virgilio in Trapani

Free-time activities and cultural visits to discover Trapani and practice the Italian language

Students who attend Italian classes in Italy at Scuola Virgilio soon get to know and appreciate Trapani that is an ideal place to join an Italian school by the sea thanks to its position, its historical and natural heritage and its climate.

Besides its intensive Italian group courses, Scuola Virgilio arranges several free activities to enable students to practice Italian: first of all, on Monday afternoons, students join a guided visit to Trapaniís old town, while on Thursday evening they meet up for a chat in a cafè to have a drink and speak Italian all together.

Depending on the season, other free activities are arranged: on a nice sunny day, after classes sometimes students and teachers go for a picnic it the Villa Margherita city park. In summer, it is possible to arrange beach games at a partner private beach.

Those who wish to discover wines and typical local products can take part in free tastings at partner shops such as winehouses, pastry shops, and so on.

For groups coming to Trapani for an Italian study trip by the sea, Scuola Virgilio also arranges other activities included in a weekly study program, such as a cinema discussion focusing on Italian culture, a bike tour to roam beyond the historical centre and visit other nearby sites such as the Pepoli Museum or the Salt Pans nature reserve.

Upon request, Scuola Virgilio can also arrange paid activities, such as visits with official tour guides to monuments and sites in Trapani, Erice and surroundings.

Dicono di noi...

I have taken courses here every summer since 2008, and I can strongly recommend it for the combination of good teaching and a friendly informal atmosphere. Trapani is an absorbing city in itself - rewarding exploration year after year with the discovery of new things, while there are many other places in western Sicily close enough to explore during afternoons and weekends. And there are beaches - within walking distance in Trapani, and further afield - and ferries to the Egadi islands.
